3 Minutes A Day Keeps The Bad Feels Away


There are so many people in the world that deal with feelings of depression and anxiety on a daily basis. It may be yourself, it may be your friends or family, it might even be the person sitting next you. These thoughts or feelings can be the cause of a lot of negativity in peoples lives and here a 3 simple things you can do to help yourself or someone you care about.


Send a text

            It takes no more then 1 minute to send someone you care about a text. Every morning as I get toward the end of my morning routine, I spend 1 minute typing a simple and meaningful message to my girlfriend. It doesn’t have to be anything long or excessively deep, I usually say something like “you’re amazing, have an amazing day and I love you”. It’s short, sweet and helps her start her day on a positive note. Knowing that I have helped my girlfriend start the day with a smile makes me feel good and puts a smile on my face. Doing something meaningful like this for someone you care about will most assuredly help you feel a bit better and make your day that much brighter.


Write Down 3 Things You Love

At any point during the day if you start to feel a bit down or losing focus of your goals, take a minute to write down 3 of the things you love or are grateful for in life. Doing this will help you relax, collect your thoughts and because your focusing on the good things in your life it will lift your mood right back up. Again this doesn’t have to be overly thought out, it can be simplest of things. My list today was as simple as “The Sun, Ice Cream and the fact I live around the corner from an amazing café”. It can also help if you share your 3 things with someone close to you, it can create a really positive environment.



Depression and anxiety is something that has affected me for a few years now, but I have found that simply breathing can make a huge difference in almost any situation. If you feel your starting to get anxious about something, close your eyes and take a minute to focus on your breathing. Breath in slowly for 4 seconds, hold that breathe for 4 seconds, breathe out slowly for 4 sec and hold for 4 seconds. This will help both your heart and breathing rate slow down, it will allow you to collect your thoughts and it will relieve any anxiety that you may be feeling. The more you do this the better you get at it. If your persistent with your breathing exercises you’ll be able to pay attention to what is going on around you and still focus on your breathing, relax and continue on strong.
